I was starting to make scones earlier when I was struck by the aesthetically pleasing arrangement of the stuff I was putting on the table, so I took a photo:
NB The orchid was a present from the lovely Tabby Rabbit, rather than a scone ingredient.
Bonus Picture: A cat, nominally mine, demonstrating that the sun really does shine out of her arse:
UPDATE: In other (completely unrelated) news, it's looking like my hunch about the Guardian letters pages was correct...

If you click on the picture, you can see a tiny reflection in the weighing scale of Patroclus taking the photo. Cute.
I love that recipe book. Have you made the pear frangipane tart thing. It's ace.
your house is freakishly tidy :)
Annie: Your comment filled me with horror, but I've looked and I can only see some amorphous mass that *might* be me, so that's OK.
Albert: No, but I was looking at that exact recipe last night and thinking I really ought to make that. It looks lovely.
OFW: I think that might be an illusion. The entire house is in fact coated with a fine layer of cat hair. I wouldn't be surprised if there was cat hair in the scones.
I *love* the pink.
(Randomly, I just typo'd that sentance as "I love the punk" - I'm not sure what that says about me?)
PS Your word verification sucks :( Had to refresh three times to be able to read the thing :(
Actually cat hair in the scones might be a very good binding agent, like horsehair in old plaster.
This isn't to say that your scones taste like old plaster, of course
Sorry about the wv, nuttycow - I'm finding them terribly difficult to read as well at the moment.
Dad: Hm, good tip for the new house, though - could save a fortune on Polyfilla.
well, at least it's rented pink and you'll be leaving all behind soon for walls you can paint your very own selves.
If you make the tart can we see a pic. I love vicarious cooking...
yes, sorry, I realised that the moment I posted that comment. But it is only a tiny blurry reflection of something which probably isn't even you...
it's very Home and Garden TV; I like it. Bold choice with the pink wall- I struggled over Ginger Palm whch turns out to be neutral-orangey and not scary at all, in the end.
also, I think we have the same table. nice choice.
Jayne: This is very true. All being well, Mr BC and I will be moving to the new house VERY SOON INDEED. Although as we haven't exchanged contracts yet, it could still all fall through.
Annie: When I thought about it some more, 'amorphous mass' pretty much sums up my figure at the moment, so that blurry thing probably is me.
Tara: Ginger Palm sounds very nice. Post photos! And yes, the pink is OK - we didn't choose it, it came with the house. If it had been on more than one wall it would have been a bit much, though - especially as the next room is decked out in turquoise, and the garden wall is a deep sort-of Moroccan blue, which would perhaps be nicer if it was in a riad in Morocco, rather than up against the fire station. And yes, that table is one of IKEA's finest.
...pleasingly zen....
*is calm*
That pic looks like an ICanHasCheezburger candidate to me.
(The one of the cat, obv.)
Boz: I like to think my blog offers a wonderful, organic place to make you feel nurtured, indulged and confident in the wellbeing of you and your child...oh no, wait, that was that dreadful place that Sylvia unearthed the other day.
Hannah: I did try to humiliate the cat on Cheezburger once before, but my tagline (something about an invisible scooter, with a Star Wars quote thrown in for good measure) was too wordy. It's a good thing I'm not a copywriter by trade, or anything. Also, I totally owe you an email...I am crap.
Talking of illusions, it looks like the orchids are growing out of the Allinson's bag. Self-raising flowers?
Boom boom!
The pink wall is very convincing indeed.
