Not Actually Blue, Or A Kitten

Well, that was quite possibly the most rubbish liveblog in the history of blogging, I do apologise.

Anyway, I am delighted to announce that the Blue Kitten is now in the house, born at 9.06pm yesterday* and weighing 7 pounds exactly. Here's a photo:

She looks a bit gingery there but her hair is actually black.

You can see another pic of the Kitten in ET mode here.

Thanks to you all for your comments throughout yesterday, they were really very encouraging and helpful. Turns out that even the most straightforward birth (as thankfully this was) is a bit of an ordeal, eh?

* Which means she shares a birthday with both Dave and Delirium. Auspicious!

Amazing! Congratulations!! And well done - if that isn't a bit patronising from someone who doesn't even have a knitted uterus. I am in awe!

In anticipation of the caption competition you're surely to announce, can I offer:

"Bit of an ordeal? How do you think it felt for me..?"

oh she's too beautiful! just exquisite. and what a sagacious look. clever, clever you (both, of course!). hope you're feeling ok and not too shattered. look after yourself and don't do too much!!!!! (that's an order - and i'm, allegedly, an expert)

She is so gorgeous, WELL DONE! And yes, birth is a shocker, even when you think you know what you're in for. ('Life After Birth' by Kate Figes is a vg book if you have any reading energy in the next few weeks... stupidly I read it BEFORE my first and was terrified!)
But ooooh newborn babies are just so amazing and beautiful. Really pleased for you all, very well done, hope you are being waited on hand and foot, and showered with gifts and love now.
Take care
xxx

Ooh ooh, welcome Blue Kitten! It gets better, I promise. (That was directed at Kitten, not mum. I wouldn't know about life after birth from mum's point of view. Yet.)

I greatly enjoyed the live blogging, btw.

Crikey, thanks everyone! Blue Kitten is doing just fine and already displays an uncanny talent for sucking textiles and staring at the wall, often at the same time.

I am sitting here with a real kitten in my lap (my next door neighbour's) and thinking for the first time in my life that a human kitten might not be a bad idea. One day. For me I mean. Fantastic idea for you obviously. What I'm saying is... I want one! Many hearty congratulations to all of you.
