Warning: may contain smugness.
Because this is the view from our new house*:
Because this is the view from the terrace of our new local:
Because I can go for a walk at lunchtime in places like this:
And this:
And because none of these things happened after all.
*contented sigh*
* Apparently this place has a reputation locally for being 'a bit rough'. Make of that what you will...
TOTALLY UNRELATED UPDATE: Quick - everyone over to Malc's blog to congratulate him on successfully delivering his first piglets...look at them...awww...best not to think about their eventual fate, though...

Alright, alright. Smug lady :)
Yes, sorry about that.
Don't forget Echo Beach...
Which view will you look at, at 2am when you are trying to pacify a screaming baby!?
sorry thats very cruel, but your smugness made me do it! ;-)
It all looks wonderful - well done you!
Tim: Yes, if you look closely, you can just see Martine McCutcheon on one of the boats in the estuary there.
Spence: That's why I'm enjoying the idyllic Cornwall life while I still can!
Sylvia: Why thank you. The door is always open to any blog readers who happen to be passing through Falmouth and its environs...there might even be home-made muffins. Until the blue kitten arrives, that is - then there will be screaming babies and nappies and I expect this blog will be no more.
Nnnnnnggggggg SO JEALOUS nggggggg
Seriously, dear God, that is just beautiful.
WHY DID I CHOOSE A FUTURE CAREER THAT REQUIRES ME TO BE IN A MAJOR URBAN CENTRE? WHY?
Until then, holidays, here I come! Counting down the days til August 1st, when I'll be on my way to bonny Helford, huzzah huzzah huzzah!
But congratulations, dearie - you deserve the view and the view deserves you too.
Ooh Semaphore, you must come for tea, if you have time when you're down. We're just moments away from Helford - in fact I think it's visible in one of those photos.
*goes to check where Helford actually is*
Oh, the Owlman of Mawnan Smith might still get you (she said hopefully - not jealous at all, oh no...).
Rough?!? Compared to where? Henley?
NO! you can't give up the blog!
I'm coming down in August too, just in time for the floodlit cricket match in Grampound Road. Lots of fit young things running around and an extremely reasonably priced beer tent. Yay...I love Cornwall!!!
And don't worry, all that sea air calms the screechiest of babies!
Actually we will be in Cornwall in August too!
Ooh, ooh, blogmeet!
Oh we should! (You'd better start planning a BIG tray of muffins)
Oh my god, you live next door to Elizabeth Bennett.
If it is, that's me vindicated, because I thought it looked familiar! If not - well, one coastline is much like another....
Helford is on the Helford River, whose mouth is on the east side of the Lizard; it opens into the bottom part of the Carrick Roads. Absolutely gorgeous part of the world, so if you DON'T live there then go and visit. And the next creek to Helford Creek is Frenchman's Creek, which is vair exciting. No pirates though (except me when I'm on my boat, har har har).
One day, I too will live in Cornwall. That is my aim.
It looks beautiful. And a wonderful place to bring up a kitten.
Sigh. Our house looks onto the back of 2 restaurants and a youth hostel. Our local is in an alley behind a Burger King. Are there any empty places for rent near yours? I've always fancied myself a resistance fighter with the C.L.A. ...
Semaphore: Yes indeed, both of those last two photos are of the Helford river - Helford itself is somewhere on the left-hand side of the bottom one. It *is* quite ludicrously beautiful.
Ruodnane: Why not kill two birds with one stone by squatting a second-homer's holiday cottage - see here for details...
By way of contrast...
Oli: Yes. Although Redruth does seem to be poshing up a bit, if this development is anything to go by...
Oh my God. So so gorgeous! The view from my local is the A4, sigh... *trying not to be too jealous*
Looks beautiful, so I think just a little bit of smugness should be allowed.
But what are the B&B rates then? And are the muffins included?
Cornwall does seem to be 'in' this year - I'm heading there with a full range of the chatterbox generations in tow at the end of June as well.
Oh, piss RIGHT off. Harrumph. The only view I get these days is the inside of the library. Pfft. And all manner of other jealous noises.
Looks absolutely divine. Enjoy :)
Have bookings opened?
Chatterbox, Cello (and everyone else): The door's always open (or it will be, once we actually move in there, and only in a figurative sense, we won't actually be leaving the door open, that would be insane) - just let me know when you're passing by this way and I will fire up the oven and get the muffin cases out...
