Fiscal Rectitude Update

Amount of money I've saved so far, thanks to my economy drive: £70

Amount of money I lost on the way to the tube station yesterday: £70

As you can see, it's all going very well indeed.

Bugger hate when that happens. But you will get some good karma or maybe cheap bananas soon.

Ah, FS, I actually think I've had quite a lot of good karma just recently, so perhaps this is the universe attempting to get even. I'll keep an eye out for cheap bananas though, even so.

If you lost £70, then that's just £70 you can't spend, and have therefore saved. Bonus!

Pat yourself on the back and buy a £35 treat as a reward.

To avoid future mishaps, I'd advise against carrying your savings around the London Underground. Use a piggy bank.

chuffy!: This is brilliant reasoning. From now on I will deposit all my savings in the Bank Of Uxbridge Road Pavement, and I'll be a millionaire in no time.

Sean: I *had* been carefully saving it in a nice Marimekko tin, but had taken it out in order to spend it on pointless fripperies. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned there.

P, have you thought of a purse, or tucking the dosh into your bra? I've seen bras for travellers which have a pocket on the side with a zip. I have several. Causes a bit of a scene in the supermarket when I have to undress to get the money out to pay for my shopping, but at least the money's all toasty cosy......

Now's your chance to bring back the bum bag.

Sylvia: My mum was always on at me to get a purse, but I know that if I did have one, I would instantly lose it, which would be far worse than just losing the odd sum of money. Also, it would mean I'd have to get a handbag to put the purse in, and I can't deal with the idea of a handbag. In any case, I have a long history of fiscal anarchy, as this post explains.

Arabella: Hmmm. No.

Ah, but I nver put my purse in my bag - it's always in my pocket! And yes, along with the keys and the tissues (I'm a mum, you know....) my hips look far wider than they are, but at least I haven't lost my dosh yet.
With regard to French bank accounts, I've had one since my assistante days in Normandy in 1982. For some reason, I cling on to it for sentimental reasons, although there's not a lot left in it now.......
