Social Etiquette 2.0

UPDATE: Ahh, massive waves of blog-related paranoia, it's quite like old times. So, let's put this one back...

Spent a goodly portion of the train journey back from Cornwall pondering the most appropriate way to casually inform the assembled crowd of blog-readers (if indeed there's anyone left following the frankly pathetic frequency of posting recently) that I seem to have become - ahem - romantically involved with another blogger.

In the end I gave up pondering and listened to some loud, inappropriate punk songs instead.

Far the best approach all round, I think.

I've just spent what must be all of two minutes pondering a suitable reaction to this news.

How does a whoop of congratulation sound?

*whooop!*

I bet it was 'Ever Fallen in Love...' by the Buzzcocks, which always seems to appear in my playlist during that early heart-skipping phase of being 'romantically linked'.

The quiestness of the blog is entirely excused when the reason is romance, btw.

Thanks Billy and POE :-)

Mags: Actually, it was mainly 'Gut Feeling' by Devo (sample lyric: something about the way you taste makes me want to clear my throat) and 'Tupelo' by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (sample lyric: black rain come down, black rain come down, wo wo-o-o). Excellent stuff.

Nick Cave is also fun.

The key question though, is whether your plants survived your absence?

Are you a robot lady (he seems to like them?)

patroclus said...

I'm not a robot, no. Unless I'm one of those robots (technically cyborgs) that thinks it's a human, like Harrison Ford in Blade Runner. That's always a possibility.

Billy said...

Ah but was Harrison Ford a robot in that film?

*witters on tediously for hours*

"all those denials!"

what denials?

where/when were the denials?

missed the denials!

*sulks*

p.s. woo! (no mention of it on his blog, though - there's no way in hell he's going to manage to keep it a secret now

Good for you both! No-one need have any existential doubts about the value of blogging ever again.

Good luck to both you...gawd I want a snog off someone! (sorry got a bit too personal there didn't I?)...goes to hide under a mulberry bush

Wah-hoo! That's exciting. Am grinning for you. Nothing beats a good loud punk song on a long train journey. Did you know each other before or meet via blogging?

patroclus said...

RM: That's actually quite a difficult question. I suppose that technically we met on a chat forum, but this was a long time ago when things were very different.

Don't really want to go into details, though - I have all sorts of people reading this blog, plus it's against my STRICT EDITORIAL POLICY. Suffice to say that I'm very happy (everyone say 'ahhhh').

Congratulations, how lovely! Can throughly recommend Helsinki, by the way. Fabulous architecture, musicians playing on every street corner and Moomins in abundance.
On a sightly more informative note the gallery of modern art (Kiasma) looked well worth a visit - we didn't actually go, owing to child-shaped resistance. Congrats again!

P.S Came across a Sami band, called Jiella, while in Lapland - thought they may be of interest.

Congrats - first The Spinster and The Timster and now you. It'sll be just like the real world on here soon. So, go on then, tell us all about your trip to Asda...

(Grammatical note: "to casually inform"

Split infinitive there, Pat.

Yours pedantically,

'Batchelor Bob'

Thanks Marsha. Definitely putting the modern art gallery on the itinerary for the Sep. jaunt to Europe's Most Northerly Mainland Capital - I missed that the last time around. Glad you had a good time.

Bob: I noticed the split infinitive as I was typing it, and thought 'but you know, I don't actually care'". Also, Spinster, Timster? Clearly I am missing out on top blogworld gossip. Anyone care to enlighten me?

And 'bachelor', unless you were making a knowing pop culture reference to powdered soup, as is PEANUT's wont.

Did I, or did I not, subtely allude to a prediction of this in my comment your whistlestop tour entry?

I believe I did. I adore being right sometimes, especially when its about things with positive outcomes for other people.

Good things happen to good people Madame Patroclus, and I think you were maybe overdue some goodness. Lovely stuff.

patroclus said...

Aimee, you did indeed, and don't think it went unnoticed. I was just being all 'discreet' and 'grown-up' and that :-)

wetnailvarnish said...

Ah, I gave up on the discreet and grown-up approach to anything (or um, everything), which is why I chose to point out my own triumph of psychic predictability powers.
I just enjoy the recognition, ha.
Anyway, back to the discussion topic - woohoo and a big round of applause to the both of you :-)
