What Kind Of Idiot Am I?

Here's a handy tip for you all: if there's a gig you really want to go to, and it's likely to be quite popular, DO NOT wait for three weeks before you attempt to buy tickets for it.

So, er, I don't suppose anyone *accidentally* bought three tickets for Calexico at the Kentish Town Forum on 23rd April that they really don't want?

Thought not. Bugger.

TOTALLY UNRELATED UPDATE: Hurrah for prodigious commenter and excellent raconteur Dave F, who now has his own congregation of vapours over at, well, I just told you. Go to it!

TOTALLY RELATED UPDATE: For anyone still reading, here's a taste of what my ticketless companions and I will be missing: link to the video for my new (it's not new, just new to me) favouritest Calexico song, Crystal Frontier. Calexico. Horns. The Mexican border. Searching for your lost love along the river of tears. Marvellous.

Oh bugger.

Never fear, Beep. I'm a glass-half-full kind of girl. I'm going to spend the cash I've saved on a fancy unit to put my TV on. Then I'm going to go to Kentish Town on the appointed day and buy tickets at a vastly inflated price off a tout. "Efficient money management" is my middle name.

Let me see what I can do with my "fabulous" set of contacts. But don't get your hopes up just yet.

Oh my god, really? That would be...just...fantastic, thank you!

*tries very hard not to get hopes up*

Now you've gone and got them up twice. I warned you about that.

I warned you before: I'm a ludicrous optimist.

No, just the fact of your offering to help has made me feel all happy and warm inside. Ahhh. The blogosphere, ladies and gentlemen. Awwww.

*quickly resumes cold-hearted cyber-maiden persona*

Came to visit here.. Huh, you've got lots of archives here. Oh well, I read the whole Blue Cat blog in two days and I've got nothing to do at nights. Ha.

Actually the same thing happened to me twice this week. The first gig will be in Hyde Park in June, so I waited consciously for a week and it was finally sold out. I was almost happy, it's 1800 km journey after all.

Then I tried to buy tickets to see Morrissey in Helsinki and it was sold out in nine minutes. Bugger.

If it make you feel better, I missed Calexico the other week, here at The Fillmore in San Francisco. And Dwight Yoakam. Hope the Triffid comes up trumps for you.

I would offer to help if I err, had any idea who Calexico were. V uncool for a media type. I have the phone number for Atomic Kitten's PR company if that helps. (I realise the answer is no, but had to try and drop a name in there somewhere)

Oo, Taiga and Arabella, there's a coincidence - you live in my two favourite cities. So I'm very envious of both of you, as well as feeling your pain over missed gigs.

Frangelita, Calexico style themselves as "that indie-rock band with mariachi horns", if that's any help. More information at www.casadecalexico.com

And a plug! You're too kind, Patro. I've finally worked out how to link to people. So - reciprocity at last. I'm sorry about "Bud Rose", since everyone knows my real name. Dave F was taken.
