Sometimes You Get A Story...

...and sometimes you just get a rubbish picture.

Unlike the highly principled and civic-minded surly girl, I have no qualms about the lack of editorial quality on this blog. So all I've got to say today is that I've been spending an unjustifiably inordinate amount of time looking at last.fm's latest feature: a lovely collage of the covers of the albums I apparently listen to most.

Now, wasn't that lovely?

UPDATE: Two nanoseconds after I posted this, James sent me a much better picture. It's The Day There Were Two Pictures, One Of Which Was Better Than The Other!

That is rather nice isn't it? You have an awful lot of copies of "Image Not Available" though.

*wyndham chuckles inwardly at his own cleverness*

Thank Goodness. I actually recognise, even own, some of them. Phew. I don't feel quite as old as your previosu musical posts were making me out to be.

Ah, indeed - there are some staples from my student days in there. Sunday night is 80s/90s night at Quinquireme Towers...

really? a pony? do you get to choose what colour and everything?

*rushes off to sign up to last.fm and buy a riding hat*

A...pony?

have a look at the "what you get when you join up" list on the right hand side. i checked twice and everything.

*adjusts tinfoil hat and amends list of "them" to include last.fm*

Oo, I'd never noticed that before. Do you think they'd let me swap my pony for a Lego Difference Engine?

Betty said...

Is it a pony as in 25 quid in cockney rhyming slang?

Kyahgirl said...

you see? it doesn't matter what you post, your people will just talk amongst themselves LOL.

That difference engine is brilliant. I once tried to build fully working model of the human psyche out of lego technic, but I didn't have enough of the 2x2 blocks.

Cool difference engine (though not as good as a pony). Wonder what other materials have been used to fashion difference? Plasticine? Sour dough?

Sorry, it's late - am not at home and haven't packed for a 6am flight (from Stanstead of all places to get to). Eurgh.

I remain slightly proud, though, that I have not heard of any of your top ten list.

ten years out of dat as usual.

That imaginary pony reminds me of when innocent drink people claimed that the lemon & ginger version contained a shiny trumpet*

I think they do it to see if anyone bothers to read them. Though it made me smile.

Oh, Beep, you are missing out. May I recommend that you proceed immediately to purchase Calexico's "Feast of Wire" at the very least? It'll make you feel like saddling up your last.fm pony and heading out at dawn into the uncharted cactus-strewn wildernesses of...er...rural Oxfordshire...with a broken heart and a bottle of whisky as your only possessions.

Or something like that. It's great, anyway.

see! see! a pony!

*vindicated*

If it's on allofmp3 I might take a sneaky listen, but I refuse to buy from iTunes on principle.
I'm playing with last.fm becasue if they give me a pony I'll be 25 notes better off, no?
But at the mo all I can see is it using bandwith... not that I pay for it, but it slows things down a bit. Or maybe it's my imagination.

More News! That album you recommend is not on iTunes, so I can't preview it. But their 2004 one is, and people who bought that also bought stuff by Sting and Edwin Collins. Doesn't fill me with deep longing to go and download it, I must say.

*returns to The Life Pursuit*

Grrr bloody iTunes. Well, there's a nice free mp3 of "Sunken Waltz" down the page there - *points down*. And I highly recommend "Black Heart" if you were going to buy just one song off iTunes.

Sting! Pfft! Would he have achieved such fame and worldwide recognition if he'd named himself Proboscis, or Ovipositor, I wonder.

Yes, recycling jokes I made earlier is the best I can do this morning.

6:09 - what are you like?! Thanks for pointer to free mp3. Reminds me to upload allmy Mercury Rev albums...

patroclus said...

Oo, Mercury Rev - go to it, I say!

Come on, P. Post something else. I'm bored.

I got nothin' to say I ain't said before, as Andrew Eldritch once said, contradicting himself somewhat.

Oh god, see what you've done, W - now I'm contemplating the logical integrity of Sisters of Mercy lyrics. I've really come to the end of the road.

Which can only mean that something incredibly exciting and glamorous will happen to me tonight, making tomorrow's post my Greatest Post Ever!

I can't imagine what it'll be, as I'm planning to go straight home after work, eat baked beans and mash (I'm a sophisticated girl, me) and watch the IT Crowd, but hey - I'm a ludicrous optimist!

That's the spirit!

Entropy, I haven't had the lemon and ginger but I've just had the pineapple, banana and coconut (just like a teetotaller's pina colada)and it is very insistent on the side that that one *doesn't* contain a shiny trumpet.

I think it's very bad giving people ponies who might not be fit to look after them. The RSPCA doesn't even let you have a kitten unless there's someone at home all day.
