Rough

Hurrah - the sickness has gone! To celebrate, I spend two hours and more than a hundred quid in the hairdresser's, getting my hair done all straight, with added gingery bits. I haven't had my hair straight for a year. I think I look mightily cute, if a bit like every other thirtysomething female in the greater Chiswick area. Conscious that this effect will last for approximately twelve hours, at which point the hair will revert to its usual scruffy mess, I merrily admire it in shop/house/car windows all the way home.

Upon arrival chez moi, I get accosted by the Stalking Neighbour. "Are you alright?" he says. "It's just you look...really rough."

Fantastic.

and he's just the man to comfort you. Have you managed to stop him entering your flat yet?

He hasn't been in the flat for a while. I managed to deflect an invitation to dinner à deux at his earlier in the week, too.

Christ, I'm a horrible bitch, aren't I? He isn't actually stalking me, he just seems a bit lonely. I'm sure he's a very nice man, really (apart from the homophobia aspect). He's just...not my type.

No, you're not horrible. He seems interested in romance, you're not. It would be horrible to string him along - keeping a distance is the decent thing to do. It's not compulsory to like someone just because they like you. And homophobia stinks (I don't hate flat 7 because they are lesbians, I hate them because they are loud, brutish and violent).

It could be worse. You could look like Mick Hucknall. Oh...

GreatSheElephant said...

Ah, yes, ginger hate, the acceptable form of prejudice. Prat.

Thanks elephant. As a proud ginger man myself (i prefer titian)I disagree with the offensive cartoons that are currently floating around. When will the hate end?

GreatSheElephant said...

really? Well you should know better then.
Mick Hucknall, Chris Evans - gods. Gods I say.

Indeed Gods amongst men. And need I mention Kinnock or Charles Kennedy. I apologise for any anti-titian comments. I am ashamed.

Hello, beans. All forms of hair colouring are welcomed, nay encouraged, on this blog. And it's probably best not to get me started on the attractiveness of ginger-haired (or fraise blond) men, as my fellow Green Wing fans will testify.

On which note might I add: Series 2! Starting 31st March! Pretty much official!

Ah yes, ginger haired men. Sigh.

by the way P, apologies for blog hogging and for trying to start a fight. Like everything these days, I'm blaming it on my sore head problem.

patroclus said...

Not at all, GSE. Sorry to hear you still have the sore head. Hope it goes away soon.

And...are we talking about any ginger-haired men in particular?

my last boyfriend was, indeed is a redhead.

I always rather liked the look of Scott Evil too, although I think they dyed him black for those films.

I love redheads as long as they are female. In my life, ginger blokes have caused a lot of trouble.

Hey -- that Anonymous was me, Dave F Xkiah.

Like I couldn't tell, Dave :-)

I think you should tell us more about this gorgeous redhead "friend" of yours...

I bet your hair looked fab-for about 12 hours. I struggle with the rat's nest of waves and curls and love it when it hangs straight (too much work to do on a regular basis).

I'm ashamed to admit feelings of bias against red haired people. Why is that? Probably the violent, abusive uncle who lived next door when I was a kid. I'll have to work on that.
