It's Half-Hearted New Year Listmania!

Unlikely Imagery Employed By Popular Musicians To Create A Sexually-Charged Atmosphere:

1. Aphids.

"The aphids swarm up in the drifting haze..."

Duran Duran - The Chauffeur (mp4)

(When I was 17, I thought this was the sexiest song I had ever heard. Now it sounds like it was written by Simon le Bon mixing up the 'Poetry' and 'Erotic' fridge magnets and throwing them at the Smeg door.)

2. Listerine.

"Use me like Listerine, keeping your breath fresher..."

Lovage - Book Of The Month (mp3)

(I'm 37 now and I think this is the sexiest song I have ever heard. Clearly I don't learn. Also, I hate the word 'sexy'.)

Dayum. That is sexy. Especially after watching James Spader...

The Chauffeur? Oh my goodness, that was my song when I was at university! I was the mug with the 2cv who used to transport the gang around Hull. Bedecked in my Laura Ashley finery, I spent my final year stone cold sober as everyone else had a Good Time.

Happy days.......

And yes, James Spader, well. Hmm. Least said soonest mended.
remember seeing SLVT when it came out and everyone laughing when the Andy McDowell character says that Graham is an unusual name.

Now, I'm probably going to get shouted at for this but...

That Lovage track reminds me a little of the Aqua deep voice/high voice dynamic that made Barbie Girl such a memorable (if tortuous) experience.

Sorry

I really must get that Lovage record.

Sylvia: Oh god, was Andie McDowell in it? Perhaps I won't watch it again after all.

Nine-Tenths: Hmm, you might be on to something there. Perhaps the Lovage song is what you get if you play 'Barbie Girl' backwards.

Billy: Me too, actually. I only have the two tracks, and they're both fantastic (life in plastic).

When I was 12 I thought "Deep" by East 17 was the sexiest song I'd ever heard.

Happy new year Patroclus. Hope all is going well down there in the sticks.
