Obligatory Snow Picture

Apparently it hasn't snowed this much in Cornwall for a long time. It's even snowing in the Isles of Scilly, for the first time in 22 years. Here's a photo of a snow-covered palm tree in our back garden:

UPDATE: The enveloping snow has not, however, dimmed the enthusiasm of the good ladies of the Network Cornwall mailing list, whose latest offering is thus:

MESSAGES FROM THE ANGELS ONLY £10 FOR A FULL DAY

HI GIRLS

lOVE AND BLESSINGS

G********* XX

I've been trying to think of a Plan B, should the recession take its toll on my copywriting business. I was thinking of buying a van and selling old tat on eBay, like I did during the post-dotcom bust, but now I think I might do better business selling dream interpretations from the bench outside the old fire station.

It doesn't snow often in Las Vegas, although perhaps more than in Cornwall. But as my daughter said when she texted a photo of her neighborhood to me last month, "There's something about snow on palm trees that just doesn't look right."

Of course, that only means the snow is more exciting, because you don't expect to see it in the places where palm trees thrive. In other places, too, I always love it when a city just shuts down the way London seemed to do today. I was in New York once when people were cross country skiing in the side streets.

Our new president recently joked that his daughters were thrilled to find out their new school shut down in bad weather. Their school in Chicago had always stayed open through so very much worse.

It's all relative, isn't it? Personally, I like live where the palms are. :)

It's snowed every month since October here, but do you hear me going on about it?

I like the 'buying a van' idea, but instead of buying and selling tat maybe you could drive it around Cornwall, offering your services to people who have special problems that nobody nobody else can help with.

I think you should concentrate on small bakery products.

Rebecca: It *is* exciting, even though I grew up in the far north of Scotland, where it even snows in June. Occasionally.

Dave: You hardy Norfolk types are no match for us West Country wusses.

GSE: I have now downloaded her entire PDF. It reads (and I have preserved the idiosyncratic grammar and punctuation just in case it contains a secret message from the angels): 'Gailelaine Has been working with archangel Michael for ten year’s and now the Elohiem energy’s have joined and are channelling through her, please join us with meditation visualisation and battery crystal healing connecting in a breathing technique.' I think that tells you all you need to know.

LC: I'm off into the garden to work on a cabbage gun, just on the offchance I might need it.

Cello: Yes! I can sell small bakery products from the back of a van! Brilliant!

And, er, what the hell is a joyshop when it's at home?

Meditation visualisation? Medication's more what I'm visualising...

wv: guing = to be continuing with an argument, even though you can't quite remember how it started

Doing a joyshop? Is that the same as an Ann Summers party but in middle class Cornish? Are the Angelic Realms a raunchy male strip team? I notice batteries are mentioned in the PDF...

wv - biblingl. I'm saying nowt

Joyshops affect your ability to use caps lock.

Are you sure this isn't an ad for New Age sexual massage instruction?

I wonder how the angels feel about the £10 charge. Who knew angels were such entrepreneurs?! Must be an astrological recession too.

Maybe you could divine the future using small baked goods - reading Mr BC's macaroons
