Battlestar Quadrireme

*picks self up off floor*

Well, the faster-than-light jump seems to have worked OK, with one tier of oarsmen as the only casualties, and they were fairly expendable anyway, and the extras were getting quite expensive, and they could never get a proper purchase with oars that long, so quite frankly they were really only there for decoration and for showing off, a bit like when Oracle supremo Larry Ellison decided he was going to build the world's biggest yacht just because he could.

So who's been left behind, and who's made the jump with me remains to be seen, but it probably won't be long before the others pick up my signals via Technorati and Statcounter and battle can commence once more.

Until then, I'll just settle in here and continue watching Series 2 of 'New' Battlestar Galactica until something terribly dangerous and exciting starts happening to my defence mainframe.

*breathes contented sigh*

Screw Battleship Galactica. This is like the beginning of the third series of Blake's Seven, when nobody was quite sure who'd survived and who hadn't.

Bagsy I be Vila.

Come in Mr Footman, I've been expecting you.

You can be Vila with the greatest of pleasure. I shall be Zen, the ship's computer, whose user interface was later stolen by 'evil' Bob Holness for Blockbusters.

Hurrah! I feared the worse.

Never mind Doctor Who they should revive Blake's 7.

Where's the panty guy gone? I was starting to enjoy that.

I'm afraid series three of BG is where it's at.

Can I come in? Promise not to get grumpy about your telly-jibes.

Ahh, welcome all to the new abode. W., the panty guy is still at the old link, but I'm thinking of giving him a guestblogger spot, if only to bump up my stats again.

I thought they *were* reviving Blake's 7, but that might just have been a dream I had. I don't know about casting, because all actors look the same to me. I keep thinking 'Chris Tarrant as Tarrant', and that thought is just so wrong on so many levels that I want to stop thinking it, but I can't.

Cello: I love telly. Really I do. I just don't watch very much of it. But I'm keeping my three Sky subscriptions especially so I can enjoy the communal experience that will be GW episode 9, and also the new series of Life on Mars. And just for you I will start scouring the Guardian Guide assiduously and make myself watch things that look interesting. It's like an early New Year's resolution.

The panty women...I did not like them at all. Glad I found you again.
Was it a deliberate attempt to escape unwanted visitors? If so it won't work you know.

Glad you found me again, realdoc. It was partly an attempt to escape (not from any of you lot, don't worry), and partly a sort of metaphysical equivalent of self-harming. Which I won't talk about, it being one of the 'last taboos' and all, but it was the same kind of cause-and-effect.

I have no idea what's happened, but hei Patroclus.

Ah, there you are. Blog link duly updated. Not that I probably have any readers left to click on it.

Mind you, I have to start blogging regularly for this MA thing soon, so who knows - there might be the odd new reader clicking their way over here in the next few weeks. If only to get away from my nonsensical ramblings.

patroclus if you're going to self-harm then do it metaphysically I say.

I have just noticed there are always a lot of Qs in my word verification here. Can you arrange that if you are part of the technorati?

I don't know bella, current viewing around here is BSG (which is ace, it has so many themes and more classical symbolism than you can shake a haruspex's stick at) and Studio 60 (which is self-indulgent rubbish that is only mitigated by the niceness of some of Amanda Peet's outfits).

Realdoc: my self-harming days are long long long gone, I'm pleased to say. I just recognised the general state of mind.

And hei Taiga and OPC, glad you found your way over here! OPC I can never find anything new on your labyrinthine blog, but will keep looking.

Um, yep, new stuff - there hasn't really been any. Soon, though.

What are Technorati and Statcounter? I just yelled at BC until he cracked.

Alarmed that you are 'keeping my three Sky subscriptions especially so I can enjoy the communal experience that will be GW episode 9' - why is it not going out on terrestrial?

patroclus said...

Ooh, hello Mangonel, sorry about that. For some reason I thought you'd already found your way back here.

Technorati tracks who else links to your blog, and Statcounter tracks who looks at your blog. They're like the Scylla and Charybdis of online narcissism.

GW ep9 will surely go out on C4, but for some reason I have three subscriptions to Sky, and I'm inclined to keep them all, just in case I ever turn out to be a Cylon and there are three of me and each one wants its own telly. To watch itself on.

*wanders off into strange Baudrillardian mind-realm*

I quite like quadrireme; it's by far the most obscure of all the -remes (with the possible exception of sinereme, which could surely be applied to anything that doesn't have oars, such as e.g. a fairy cake?). So I think I'll stick with this one for a bit, even though the correct spelling is probably 'quadrereme'.
